MultiCare PCPs Leaving LifeWise Alpine Network in 2025

December 11, 2024

MultiCare primary care providers (PCPs) will no longer be in the LifeWise Alpine Network in 2025. We have notified Cascade Select members who have seen MultiCare primary care providers in the last 12 months that their providers will be out-of-network next year.

This change is due to our new agreement with MultiCare Health Systems that was reached in May 2024. While their contract has them remaining in the Alpine network, which serves our Cascade Select plans, it no longer covers MultiCare PCPs in 2025. MultiCare facilities and specialists will continue to be in the Alpine network.

“While we don’t prefer this change, MultiCare being in the Alpine network is an important part of our ability to offer Cascade Select plans in Pierce, Thurston, and Spokane counties,” said Justin Cusber, Individual Markets Business Manager. “Cascade Select plans offer customers access to rich benefits at our most competitive premiums, with access to care and a sizeable network that exceeds the Cascade Select competition.”

Despite MultiCare’s PCPs not in the Alpine network next year, LifeWise Cascade Select customers still have access to more than 3,800 PCPs across Washington state. About 1,000 of those PCPs are in Pierce, Thurston, and Spokane counties.

Here’s what you need to know to help your clients:

  • Your clients who have seen a MultiCare PCP in the last 12 months should have received a provider termination notice in the mail.
  • Notices will note the PCP who is no longer in-network for 2025.
  • Recommend your clients sign in to their LifeWise account and select a new PCP in the LifeWise Alpine network prior to January 1, 2025.
  • The Find Care tool (provider directory) will also have a pink warning message that the provider is no longer be in-network as of January 1, 2025.
  • The MultiCare PCPs exiting the Alpine network will be removed from the Washington Healthplanfinder directory.
